ABOUT.
ROZEN, born Rozen Lalas, is a Pop/R&B artist and content creator based in Los Angeles, CA originally from the Philippines. Lalas had quite an International upbringing growing up and studying abroad in Nigeria, India, Thailand, and England before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising from Western Michigan University. Growing up in a musical household, ROZEN played the piano, flute, guitar, sang in her school choir, and always signed up for talent shows and auditioned for school musicals. She was always passionate about the arts and performing, making it on her first dance team at 11-years old, being nominated cheer captain at 15-years old, and winning the title UCA All-Star 2 years in a row. She was very much the entertainer of the family.
This triple-threat globe-trotting beauty has developed her sound from influences like Aaliyah, Tamia, Sade, Lauryn Hill, Toni Braxton, and Etta James. Since moving to Los Angeles, ROZEN has studied under Michael "EVRYWHR" Jefferson (Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter) and has had the pleasure of working with Davion Farris (songwriter to Tyrese, Mary J Blige), and Andrew Chavez (engineer to Christina Aguilera's "Bionic" album). Lalas also trained as a principle dancer on Academy of Villains, under Christopher “Pharside” Jennings and Krystal Meraz, choreographers for SYTYCD.
After leaving her 6th girl group in 2016, ROZEN began her solo-artist career with the release of her debut single, “His Interlude”, and shortly followed that release with her debut 2-part EP, “Pages”. Her debut EP uniquely previewed her story behind domestic violence through songs inspired by her journal. This raw and moving 6-song medley gained the attention of the largest Domestic Violence Awareness non-profit known as BTSADV. This collaboration led ROZEN to travel the country performing her original music live & being booked as a guest speaker. She raised awareness against domestic violence by sharing her stories and delivering unforgettable live stage performances to several college campuses such as Ottawa University, Georgetown University, and Widener University, to name a few.
ROZEN has received placement on the Emmy-nominated web series, “Tough Love” and has been featured on several Spotify playlists including the 2019 “Beast Meets West”, a popular Spotify curated playlist. ROZEN’s music is a spectrum of sounds reminiscent of ’90s/early 2000’s R&B like Ashanti, Aaliyah, and Tamia with the soothing soulful delivery of Sade with a Pop structure. ROZEN released her exciting summer hit new single, "BBO”, in the summer of 2021. The upbeat single caters to the playful, bold, animated side of this talented Filipina-American, and is also accompanied by a vibrant and show-stopping music video that can be described as "empowering", "incredibly entertaining" and "addictive to watch." Rozen's highly anticipated debut album is set to be released in April of 2023.
